Staff Product Engineer (Identity & Policy)
About the Role
Product Engineers at Dome own outcomes, not just implementations. You will work across the stack to build software that solves real problems for customers, making architectural decisions, shipping code, and iterating based on what you learn. The boundary between product thinking and engineering execution does not exist here; you operate across both.
This is an AI-native engineering role. You understand how AI reshapes the development lifecycle and have experienced the productivity gains firsthand. You know where AI creates leverage and where it does not, and you use that understanding to deliver at a pace that traditional approaches cannot match. You specify intent clearly, delegate implementation, and focus your judgment on evaluation and refinement. This is how you already work, not something you intend to explore.
You will own the systems that govern what agents can do and who can manage them. This includes authentication, authorization, policy enforcement, and credential management. Enterprise customers trust us because we get security right; you will build the foundations that earn and maintain that trust.
What You'll Do
You will build the policy and identity systems that make our platform enterprise-ready. This means designing authentication flows that integrate with customer identity providers, authorization models that express complex access requirements simply, and policy engines that enforce rules consistently across distributed environments. You will own credential management and secrets handling, ensuring agents operate with least privilege and full auditability. You will work directly with customers to understand their security and compliance requirements, translating them into product capabilities that delight rather than frustrate.
What You'll Bring
You have built authentication or authorization systems in production, ideally for enterprise customers with complex requirements.
You understand identity protocols including OAuth, OIDC, and SAML, and can reason about their trade-offs.
You have experience with policy engines or access control models such as RBAC, ABAC, or OPA/Cedar.
You write Go fluently and can design secure systems that are also maintainable.
You have internalized an AI-native development workflow and can demonstrate the productivity gains it enables.
You use AI tools to specify, build, and validate, not as occasional assistants but as core to how you deliver.
You have opinions on how software should be built and can defend them while remaining open to being wrong.
You communicate clearly and work effectively with customers, founders, and other engineers.
How We Work
We are building a company for the long term, not optimizing for unsustainable sprints. We believe the best work comes from professionals who have the space to think deeply, maintain their lives outside of work, and bring their full capabilities to hard problems. We are remote-friendly and trust our team to manage their time and energy effectively. We value clarity over consensus, direct feedback over politics, and shipping over theorizing.
What We Offer
We provide competitive compensation including meaningful equity. You are joining as a founder-level contributor. We offer comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage. We support flexible working arrangements with a remote-friendly culture. We provide the equipment and tools you need to do your best work.
Equal Opportunity
Dome Systems is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate candidates based on capability, not credentials. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to building a diverse team.
