Dome is generally available, and now self-serve

We’re finally ready to unveil what we’ve been working on: Dome is generally available today.

We’ve spent the past months engaged with dozens of organizations to get to this point, during which three simple principles became clear.

First: AI agents represent a new application topology.

A traditional application consists of a caller invoking a piece of code, which then calls backend tools and systems. Each time the caller makes the request, the same answer is returned.

An AI agent is different. It is initiated by a caller invoking a piece of code, which then calls a model, which then calls tools in a loop until the answer is ready to be returned.

Second: because models behave probabilistically by design, enterprise adoption necessitates a mechanism to govern that iterative cycle, ensuring that agent behavior remains within defined operational guardrails.

Security teams need guarantees that permissions are being enforced across every element of that loop, while integrating with the technologies they already enforce for all other application types. Operations teams need assurance that agents are going to play nice with the other elements in the infrastructure estate. Finance teams need the ability to enforce control over model and compute costs.

And third: attempts to solve this challenge by enterprises over the past 18 months have been fragmented, primarily securing the endpoints of this loop — the model and the tools — while neglecting the loop itself. This has led to the adoption of isolated model routers or specific gateways for individual use cases. The result is that the burden of unifying these disparate components in every agentic loop has fallen entirely on the organization.

Treating the agent as the element to be governed
